Physical & Spiritual Poverty.

Our team had the opportunity to go into slums where only a couple of weeks after people were killed by heavy mudslides. As we trekked up the hills, the spiritual poverty seemed to move my heart more than the physical poverty of the people. My heart ached to see where houses once stood – all built on sand pitched on the side of the hills. In that instant, I longed to share the story of the man who built his house on the sand. I just wanted to scream that Christ is the only true foundation. The Bible seemed to come alive in a way that it never had before. We saw men carrying yokes that held fruit or other things to sell in order to feed their families. I wanted them to see Christ and His promises that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. These people need rest for their souls. Their eyes, veiled by Satan’s lies, spoke of their need for Christ’s blood. Pray that God would remove this veil so that they, too, may see full in His wonderful face.
